TERRIBLE NEWS. I love my Metal Gear Solid and would love to see a film about it as soon as possible, but with breaking news from the higher powers above, they tell me that this will not happen anytime soon. I can see the upside that I would want to wait until a script and Konami are absolutely set on a good story and ready to take on this epic story.

When asked about the status of the adaptation, producer Mike De Luca,  replied:
“I don’t think it’s going to move forward because I got the sense that there may not be enough of a coordinated will at this point on the side of certain parties to see a movie get made. The video game companies are very protective of their property and there are certain things a studio requires freedom-wise to market and distribute a movie effectively in a global marketplace and sometimes getting those two things to match up is really hard. And in the case of Metal Gear Solid, the agendas just….not because the parties weren’t amicable, it was just kind of impossible to get the agendas to match up”

I think this could be a great film franchise, just give em the green light on this, and punch out a great film. This could be a great series of films that would spark some interesting box office numbers if played out right. Hopefully I hear some sort of green light before 2012 happens and we all die, just so I know they could have been thinking about it sooner than later.
